The beautiful Griggs Park Mural is a vibrant addition to our community that showcases the talents of local artists Cheryl Church and Alexandra Burnside. The project began in December 2023 after being approved by Carthage City Council in March of 2023. After months of hard work, the mural was completed on March 2, 2024.
About the Mural
Our goal with the mural design was to bring life to the park through artistic elements and create a fun photo opportunity for Carthage residents and visitors. By infusing the park with bright colors and imaginative designs, the mural brings new energy and life to the area. The mural features a pickleball player, two kids playing basketball, and a skateboarder, highlighting the activities available at Griggs Park.

Cheryl Church and Alexandra Burnside, the talented artists behind this project, are well-known in the Carthage community for their work at artCENTRAL, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts.
Special Thanks
This project would not have been possible without the grant from the McCune Brooks Regional Hospital Trust, the support of Carthage Parks & Recreation, and the hard work of Cheryl and Alexandra. Together, we created a space that reflects the beauty and creativity of Carthage. Thank you all for being a part of our mission towards community beautification. We invite everyone to visit Griggs Park, enjoy the mural, and be part of this beautiful addition to our community.
